Firestone Ventures Announces Appointment of Chief Financial Officer

| | VANCOUVER, Oct 23/CNW - Firestone Ventures Inc. (FV:TSX-VEN) is pleased to announce the appointment of L. James Porter as its Chief Financial Officer and to its Board of Directors.
Mr. Porter, a Chartered Financial Analyst, Canadian Chartered Accountant and US Certified Public Accountant, has extensive experience in corporate affairs and fund-raising.
Commented Dr. Ken Powell, President of Firestone Ventures, "We are very pleased with Jim's appointment as we move our Company to the next stage of its development. The results of this summer's emerald exploration season were very positive and we see a real opportunity to grow our Company accordingly. We also are examining property acquisition opportunities and expect Jim's input to be invaluable in determining which to pursue and how to structure them."
Most recently Mr. Porter has been CFO and Director of NASDAQ National Market and SmallCap Market listed companies prior to which he was Senior Manager with a major international accounting firm. He has worked in both Canada and the USA dealing with all facets of corporate finance and a variety of companies, including senior mining houses.
He currently consults to and sits on the Board of Directors, Board of Advisors or Supervisory Board of a number of early stage public and private companies.
Said Mr. Porter, "I am very pleased to be involved at the grassroots stage of what I perceive to be a highly prospective emerald play and in addition I look forward to taking a proactive approach to adding metals and minerals to the Company's portfolio. We intend to take an aggressive yet careful approach to adding properties over the next year or so with a focus on adding shareholder value and diversifying the Company's asset base."
Mr. Porter will be based in the Company's Vancouver office.
