Firestone Ventures Announces High Grade Zinc Results from Torlon Project

August 2/2005 - Firestone Ventures Inc. (FV: TSX-V) is pleased to report results from a sampling and mapping program at the Torlon high-grade zinc property in western Guatemala. The 16 hectare (39.5 acre) Torlon property is road accessible and well situated in terms of access to Pacific Region zinc markets (see fact sheet and photo gallery at www.firestoneventures.com).

A total of 16 rock samples representing four distinct types of zinc oxide mineralization were collected from various workings on the Torlon property. The program was designed to verify past exploration data (see News Release from Nov. 19, 2004) in preparation for a drill program.

Zinc mineralization (smithsonite) at Torlon extends over a 100 m x 700 m area called the "Santa Rosa Corridor". In the central 200 m of the "Santa Rosa Corridor" area the corridor has a true width of 25 to 30 m and is buttressed by two sheets (Zone N-1 and Zone N-2) of zinc mineralization hosted by Permian dolostone breccia. Zone N-1 has an average grade of 20.3% zinc over true widths of 1 -- 9 m, including a high-grade zone ("The Bulge") that grades 28.4% zinc over an estimated typical true width of 9 m. Zone N-1 forms conspicuous cliffs and bluffs over a north-south distance of about 140 m on surface.

The source of the zinc oxide mineralization at La Canada Adits remains unknown. La Canada area is 150 m west of the main Santa Rosa Workings. Identification of in-situ zinc mineralization within the collapsed adits in this area would represent considerable expansion of the zinc potential at Torlon.

The Torlon property has never been drilled; however there are numerous underground workings on the property due to small scale lead mining that has carried on for over 250 years.

In addition to the sampling and mapping program at Torlon, Firestone is pleased to announce that the environmental mitigation study for the surrounding 'Orbita" 134 hectare (331.1 acres) property has been submitted to the Guatemala Ministry of Energy and Mines. With the addition of the "Orbita' concession, 100% owned by Firestone, there is excellent potential for expansion of the known area of zinc mineralization and for finding new zones.

"At Torlon, there is potential for expansion of the known zinc mineralization to the north, west and south. Only the central 200 m portion of the Santa Rosa Corridor has been examined in detail.", says Lori Walton, Firestone's President. "Our next step is to drill and determine the depth and geometry of the zinc zones."

This news release has been reviewed by consulting geologist John Cleary, CPG, Qualified Person for the property in accordance with regulations under National Instrument 43-101. Rock samples were sent to Global Discovery Labs in Vancouver, Canada where they were assayed for zinc and lead. The samples were also analyzed for 28 elements using ICP methods, for gold using aqua regia decomposition/solvent extraction and atomic absorption spectroscopy and for germanium using acid decomposition and atomic absorption spectrometry. Germanium results are pending. Firestone Ventures has the right to purchase a 100% interest in the Torlon property under the terms of an agreement described in a News Release dated Dec. 8, 2004. A 43-101 Technical Report on Torlon is available on www.firestoneventures.com or www.sedar.com.
